A tip to battle nerves
One thing I tell people about fear is: breathe. Seriously.
You will be surprised at how many people forget to breathe when they speak.
There has to be a study about how deep breaths help reduce anxiety. If I had time, I would try to find one.
(Maybe that will be a good snow day project).
So the old “breath in positive energy, breath out negatively” is not just foo-foo-la-la. It works. And you will be surprised at how much it works to reduce stress and fear.br />
BONUS TIP: Things not to try, drugs and alcohol. Someone once told me (and was completely serious) that drinking alcohol before a speech reduces anxiety. Well, maybe. You will certain be feeling no pain. But who know what you will do or say. So, stick to water or a soda.
