PowerPoint (almost) never works like you want
When people depend on their PowerPoint to make a good presentation, I always hope they have a Plan B.
I mean, what if the technology does not work. It happens.
You can go to a conference and was promised a computer with a projector for your panel. But, the panel that used the tech before
your broke the projector. It happens.
Do you:
A. Find the event manager and urge them (strongly) to find a projector 20 minutes before your speech.
B. Scramble to put together a presentation without your precious slides in 20 minutes.
C. Come down with a cold and bow out of the panel.
Slides as a means to get your message across. They are not meant to be a substitute for your message. But most people don’t plan on doing the speech without the PowerPoint.
Don’t be that person. Think of the worse-case scenario and plan for the end of the world.
Don’t yell, don’t scramble. Plan ahead. Besides, if you do plan ahead, there is a good chance you will never need Plan B.
