10/20/30 Rule of Powerpoint Presentations
Guy Kawasaki wrote a pretty useful blog posting four years ago that I just ran across.
He wrote it to give startups advice when presenting their ideas to potential investors. He believes that presentations should follow the 10/20/30 rule.
As he writes:
10/20/30 Rule of PowerPoint. It’s quite simple: a PowerPoint presentation should have ten slides, last no more than twenty minutes, and contain no font smaller than thirty points. While I’m in the venture capital business, this rule is applicable for any presentation to reach agreement: for example, raising capital, making a sale, forming a partnership, etc.
Once again, you might not be presenting to venture capitalist. But when using powerpoint for speeches, please keep this guideline in mind.
There is such a thing as too much Powerpoint.
