How to Improve Doing Something People Hate

Ep. 12 – Why Bring That Up? Speech Organizing 101, Part 2

Show notes: In the second section of your speech—build a bridge!

Make sure your listener understands exactly: 1. Why you are bringing up this subject. Why is it that the audience should listen to you on the subject? What is the purpose? Define it for an audience. Don’t let them guess about the purpose because you might not like what they guess.

2. How does the topic relates to her or him. So many people think public speaking is about the speaker when it is actually about the listener. The bridge is critical for your lead-in to the body of speech.

To Do – when preping a speech think about why it is important to you and why it is important to the listener.
